Ergoland Factory Building

The Ergoland Factory Building is located inside the İzmit Aslanbey Organized Industry Zone. Fabrication system and general use in the building, where insulation material will be produced, have determined the dimension of spaces and structural characteristics. Apart from functional criteria, reflecting an original institutional identity and emphasizing technology within architectural unity was targeted in the project.

Despite the fact that the administrative section and the production section require spaces of very different dimensions, and their need to be separated on a functional basis, the structure has been designed in a way reflecting architectural unity. The factory’s production section which is a dominant mass, has been defined between two completely covered and metal coated wall units reaching the roof on both the front and rear facades. The administrative building on the entrance facade of the plant is positioned under a red eave-structure connecting to the wall on that direction and balancing it horizontally. There are full-empty, and semi open-closed spaces within the eave-structure that supports the institutional statement with its color and dimension. Thus, the metal panel coated wall and eave elements contribute to the creation of the image and unity of the building. On the side facades, the massive integrity has been emphasized with horizontal elements starting out from above the eaves of the factory roof; the same metal elements continue along the open cantilever joined on to the structure.
